BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 2011-- USEC Inc. (NYSE: USU) announced today that Mary Pat Salomone has been elected to the Company’s board of directors. Salomone is senior vice president and chief operating officer at The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W). She will serve on the board’s technology and competition committee.

Salomone replaces Michael S. Taff, who recently resigned from his position as chief financial officer of B&W. Toshiba’s designee on the board is Hiroshi Sakamoto, senior vice president and board director, Toshiba America Nuclear Energy Corporation, a subsidiary of Toshiba.

“Mary Pat’s experience in the nuclear power industry and strategic business development will be a real asset to the board,” said James Mellor, USEC chairman. “In addition, her integration with the board will continue to foster the companies’ close working relationship.”

Salomone has served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of B&W since January 2010. Prior to that, she had served as manager of business development and manager of strategic acquisitions for Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Operations Group, Inc.
