BETHESDA, Md., May 12, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- USEC Inc. (NYSE:USU) announced today that John C. Barpoulis has been elected vice president and treasurer by the Board of Directors. Barpoulis is responsible for cash management, financial aspects of mergers and acquisitions, all financing, risk management, and pension and benefit investments. He reports to USEC Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Ellen C. Wolf.
"John's expertise in raising capital for large construction projects in the energy industry will be extremely useful to USEC as we pursue growth strategies and seek construction financing for our next-generation uranium enrichment technology, American Centrifuge," said Wolf. "His background with energy utilities makes him a valuable addition to our team."
Prior to joining USEC, Barpoulis was vice president and treasurer of National Energy & Gas Transmission, Inc. (NEGT), formerly a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation. Prior to that, he served in financial positions of increasing responsibility in U.S. Generating Company, an NEGT subsidiary, and served as a consultant with Berner, Lanphier and Associates, which provided analytical services to the U.S. Department of Defense.
Barpoulis received a bachelor of arts degree in physics from Vassar College and a bachelor of engineering degree in mechanical engineering from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College. He also earned a master of business administration degree from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
