BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 23, 2004--James F. McDonnell has joined USEC Inc. (NYSE:USU) in the newly created position of vice president and chief information and security officer. He will be responsible for the strategic direction of information technology programs as well as overall physical and data security at the Company's headquarters, in its Advanced Technology organization and at plant facilities in Paducah, Kentucky and Piketon, Ohio.
Mr. McDonnell has nearly 30 years of management and leadership experience in various segments of government and the private sector. Immediately prior to joining USEC, he was a director in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Office of Infrastructure Protection. There he directed national efforts to safeguard critical facilities and complex digital control systems.

Mr. McDonnell also has served as director of the Office of Energy Assurance at the U.S. Department of Energy and director of National Security Programs for Oak Ridge Associated Universities. Additionally, he had a distinguished career as an officer in the U.S. Navy following advancement from the enlisted ranks.
Mr. McDonnell received his B.S. degree from the State University of New York, Albany and earned an M.A. degree from Georgetown University.
