BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 2004--USEC Inc. (NYSE:USU) announced today that E. John Neumann has joined the Company as vice president, government relations. In that role, he will be responsible for the Company's day-to-day interactions with Congress and other policy makers and will direct the Company's overall legislative efforts.

Neumann joins USEC from the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) where he served for the past nine years as vice president, government relations and was instrumental in enhancing the effectiveness and visibility of the shareholder-owned electric utility industry on Capitol Hill.
Neumann formerly served as director, government affairs for the Southern Company in their Washington, D.C. office. Prior to that, Neumann served as director of federal affairs for Baltimore Gas and Electric Company, now known as Constellation Energy. Before that he served in a number of legislative liaison roles with the ranking member of the House Small Business Committee, the late Silvio Conte (R-MA); the U.S. Small Business Administration under President Ford; the American Gas Association; and the U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee's chairman, the late Senator Gordon Allott (R-CO).
Neumann holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Colorado and has done graduate studies at the American University Graduate School of Government and Public Administration.
