USEC Promotes Peter Saba to Senior Vice President, Names Paul Sullivan Chief Engineer
BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 5, 2009--
USEC Inc. (NYSE:USU) announced today that the USEC board of directors
elected Peter B. Saba senior vice president. Saba will continue as
USEC’s general counsel and secretary, positions he has held since April
2008.
In announcing the promotion, USEC President and Chief Executive Officer
John Welch said, “Peter has been a tremendous contributor to USEC from
day one. Under his guidance and counsel, we have prevailed in a
unanimous Supreme Court ruling on an important trade case and we
continue to make great strides in our effort to obtain a loan guarantee
for the American Centrifuge Plant. He is a valued member of our senior
management team.”
Saba, a graduate of the University of Virginia and Harvard Law School,
has extensive legal experience in both the private and government
sectors. Previously, Saba was of counsel in the global projects group at
Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP. There he advised clients on the
implementation of new federal government insurance and loan guarantee
programs for the development of advanced nuclear power plants. Saba’s
experience also included service as principal deputy assistant secretary
in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Domestic and International
Energy Policy.
USEC’s board also recently named Paul Sullivan as an officer of the
company and as chief engineer. Sullivan joined USEC in January as vice
president for operations and is responsible for USEC’s production
operations and contract work for the U.S. Department of Energy at the
Paducah, Ky., and Piketon, Ohio, plant facilities. As chief engineer,
Sullivan will provide engineering oversight across the company.

Sullivan, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and of the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, recently retired with the rank of Vice Admiral
after 34 years of service in the U.S. Navy. He was most recently the
Commander of the Naval Sea Systems Command where also previously served
as Chief Engineer and Program Manager of the Virginia and Seawolf
submarine classes. Sullivan’s leadership led to the delivery of 22 new
ships, 63 major ship overhauls and more than 140 private sector
overhauls.
