Charles Yulish

    Charles B. Yulish

    Charles B. Yulish is Vice President, Corporate Communications, for USEC Inc. He is responsible for employee communications and interactions with the media, the nuclear industry, international organizations and the general public.

    Prior to joining USEC, Mr. Yulish was executive vice president and managing director of the E. Bruce Harrison Company in Washington, D.C. He began his career working for the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. Subsequently, at the Atomic Industrial Forum (now the Nuclear Energy Institute), he launched and managed its international public affairs program. For many years, he operated his own consulting firm in New York and became a partner in Holt, Ross & Yulish, an environmental communications firm.

    Mr. Yulish has designed and implemented numerous conflict management programs and responsible care programs including community advisory panels for chemical and electric utility companies. He was responsible for designing and implementing a widely acclaimed crisis management and strategic communications program for Sybron Chemicals Inc., that won the 1990 Silver Anvil Award for the best community relations program, and the 1992 International Gold Mercury Award for the best strategic communications program. He also played a role in developing and implementing a McDonalds Corporation award-winning environmental program.

    Mr. Yulish has an M.P.A. in public administration from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York, and a B.A. from Kent State University.

    Robert Van Namen

      Robert Van Namen
      Vice President, Marketing and Sales

      Robert Van Namen is Vice President, Marketing and Sales at USEC Inc. He is responsible for developing and implementing corporate marketing and sales policies and managing USEC’s sales force. In addition to building strong customer relationships, he will work closely with Production and will evaluate opportunities to develop new products and services.

      Before joining the Company in January 1999, Mr. Van Namen was Manager of Nuclear Fuel Management for Duke Energy. His career at Duke Energy included seven years in nuclear design and safety analysis, moving to fuel management activities in 1991.

      Mr. Van Namen has published numerous papers dealing with nuclear fuel issues and with the impact of deregulation on nuclear power. He has served in a variety of leadership roles in the nuclear fuel industry, professional organizations and the Nuclear Energy Institute.

      Mr. Van Namen earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees at the University of Virginia and continued his studies in Duke Energy’s leadership development programs. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of North Carolina.

      Timothy Hansen

        Timothy B. Hansen
        Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Secretary

        Timothy (Tim) B. Hansen is Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Secretary of USEC Inc. He is responsible for corporate governance, securities compliance and corporate law matters. Mr. Hansen joined USEC as Assistant General Counsel in 1994 and was named Deputy General Counsel and Secretary in February 1999. He was made Vice President in August 2000.

        Prior to joining USEC, Mr. Hansen practiced law in the San Francisco and Washington, D.C. offices of Shearman & Sterling, where he specialized in securities and corporate transactions. He represented investment banks in initial public offerings and secondary offerings, commercial banks in secured lending transactions, and a private investment fund in a series of acquisitions.

        Mr. Hansen holds an A.B. in economics from Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in Charlottesville, Virginia.

        Gary Ellsworth

          Vice President, Government Relations

          Gary Ellsworth is Vice President, Government Relations, at USEC Inc. He is responsible for developing and implementing USEC's government relations program, covering the executive and legislative branches at both federal and state levels.

          Prior to joining USEC in 1999, Mr. Ellsworth was Chief Counsel on the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. His career on Capitol Hill spanned more than 21 years, beginning as Staff Director and Minority Counsel on the House Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs. In 1981, he moved to the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, where he served as Deputy Chief Counsel, Minority Chief Counsel and Chief Counsel.

          As principal staff member responsible for the legal and legislative agenda of the Committee, Mr. Ellsworth played a key role in developing significant energy and environmental legislation. He also managed the Committee's confirmation process for Presidential nominees.

          Mr. Ellsworth earned his J.D. degree (cum laude) from the International School of Law, which later became the George Mason School of Law, and his B.A. from Dartmouth College. As an engineering officer in the U.S. Navy, he served in Vietnam.

          J. Morris Brown

            J. Morris Brown
            Vice President, Operations

            J. Morris Brown is Vice President, Operations, at USEC Inc. He is responsible for production-related activities and operations at USEC’s uranium enrichment plants near Portsmouth, Ohio, and in Paducah, Kentucky. Mr. Brown served as General Manager at the Portsmouth plant from March 1998 to November 2000. He previously served as Engineering Manager at the Paducah facility.

            Mr. Brown has 36 years of nuclear-related experience including management responsibilities at Carolina Power and Light Company, Louisiana Power & Light Company and Newport News Shipbuilding Dry Dock Company. He has also served in consulting capacities at other plants within the nuclear industry.

            Mr. Brown earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Polytechnic Institute and State University.

            Philip Sewell

              Philip G. Sewell
              Sr. Vice President

              Philip G. Sewell is Senior Vice President of USEC Inc. He is responsible for all international trade issues, for implementing the Russian HEU (highly enriched uranium) contract, and for specific strategies related to identifying new business opportunities. He also directs USEC’s advanced technology programs. Mr. Sewell joined USEC in 1993. Before assuming his current title, he was Vice President for Corporate Development and International Trade and Security.

              For five years prior to joining USEC, Mr. Sewell served as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Department of Energy where he was responsible for the overall management of the uranium enrichment activities. He maintained a market leadership position for the business in a highly competitive no-growth market, completed the successful demonstration of a promising laser enrichment process, and represented the government in negotiating a $12 billion purchase of uranium derived from dismantled Russian nuclear weapons.

              From 1975 to 1987, Mr. Sewell held positions of increasing responsibility in DOE’s uranium enrichment program. He started as a program analyst/production engineer in 1975. He then became director of marketing in 1978 and director of the Office of Marketing, Strategic Planning and Technology Development in 1986. Prior to joining DOE, Mr. Sewell spent seven years as a manager/engineer with the Department of Defense where he performed analyses of rocket propulsion technology, developed and implemented plans to market engineering services to other government agencies and NATO countries, and served as a naval technical representative to NATO.

              Mr. Sewell earned an M.S. in business administration from George Washington University and a B.S. in aerospace engineering from the University of Maryland.

              Robert Moore

                Robert J. Moore
                Sr. Vice President & General Counsel

                Robert J. Moore is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of USEC Inc. He oversees USEC’s legal, government relations, corporate communications and corporate secretary functions and is responsible for legal and federal policy matters for the Corporation. Prior to joining USEC in 1993, Mr. Moore served as general counsel and start-up advisor to two senior bi-partisan legal and policy organizations: the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission, and the Presidential Commission on the Assignment of Women in the Armed Forces. His responsibilities included managing litigation matters at all levels of the judiciary and administrative agencies, and providing legal advice to board members and staff.

                Mr. Moore also served as director of the State of California’s Washington office managing Washington, D.C.-related legal, congressional and executive branch matters. Moore's military service included active duty in the Persian Gulf War during Operation Desert Storm.

                Mr. Moore earned an M.P.A. from Harvard University, a J.D. from the University of Santa Clara Law School and an A.B. from the University of California at Davis.

                William Timbers

                  William H. Timbers has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of USEC Inc. since 1998, following USEC’s privatization. He was appointed USEC Transition Manager in March 1993 by President Clinton, and from 1994 to 1998, he was President and CEO of the government-owned United States Enrichment Corporation. From 1991 to 1993, Mr. Timbers was President of The Timbers Corporation, an investment banking firm based in Stamford, Connecticut. Before that, he was a Managing Director of the investment banking firm of Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co. Inc. in New York and San Francisco.

                  Joyce Brown

                    Joyce F. Brown is President of the Fashion Institute of Technology of the State University of New York. From 1994 to 1997, Ms. Brown was a professor of clinical psychology at the City University of New York, where she previously held several Vice Chancellor positions. From 1993 to 1994, she served as the Deputy Mayor for Public and Community Affairs in the Office of the Mayor of the City of New York. Ms. Brown is on the Boards of Directors of Transderm Laboratories Corporation and Unity Mutual Life Insurance Company.

                      Dan T. Moore, III is the founder, owner and president, since 1969, of the Dan T. Moore Company Inc., a developer of a number of advanced materials companies and technologies. Mr. Moore has also been Chairman of the Board of the Advanced Ceramics Corporation since 1993. He serves on the Boards of Directors of the Hawk Corporation, Invacare Corporation and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
